Why this site? And why now?

If you have arrived here early, then you either know me offline - hi! - or you followed a link from LinkedIn or Substack and explored a bit. Also hi. Yes, this is indeed the first official post on christogoosen.com. Make yourself at home.

And why now and not a year ago? You can always accuse me of not being efficient in my personal projects, but on a serious note I finally made the time and found a design and a workflow that I like.

I made this site so I can publish often-contrary pieces. I work in the software industry, as a product manager, and there’s a constant stream of ideas, thoughts, concepts, things that make me go “I should probably write that down”. Or a book I read made me feel like reviewing it and sharing that review, as I tend to read a fair amount and will often have an opinion afterwards.

Thus, over the course of many months, this site took shape, given form by Minouw over at Dapper Designer, and finally populated with some content by myself. And it had to be my own site. I post here first, and distribute to my Substack and my LinkedIn, but I want to own the home where all of these various articles and reviews come together.

A lot of what I write in the coming months will be focused around logistics, especially the fun part where trucks are organised, drive around, are loaded and unloaded, drive around some more, all the while obeying the invisible, intricate spiderweb of European legislation. There is a vast ecosystem in motion almost 24/7 across Europe, for most people only visible when they pass by a truck somewhere on the highways. It is the lifeblood of the continent, the movement of goods. For at least one part of it, my team and I are responsible for the interface where messy reality meets the clean logic of the software.

If you are in product management, or in logistics, or you just enjoy perhaps-slightly-too-long pieces about systems interacting with one another… then welcome. I hope you find something interesting. If you do, please let me know by getting in touch. Also if you disagree with me on something, even better!
